Most people kno the good oc capabilities of the 8K7A. What is the maximum limit that anyone has pushed this board to...with any cpu??

Max stable fsb speed of 190. Max cpu speed maxed out was/is 1620, I can't get into Windows @ 1680 even with 2.12v, cpu's fault not Epox's.

Mine's at 154 x 10, but I use to have it at 148 x 10.5. Won't hit 1600MHz with any FSB/multiplier combo. Guess my CPU doesn't OC too well.

140x10=1400mhz from a 1ghz cpu... havent had a chance to up the fsb anymore

I'm at 148x10. When I take it to 150fsb I get internet explorer errors.

My vcore voltage is maxxed out, is that bad?? Or will it just make it more stable?

My DDR voltage is one above default (+0.2v)

What voltages are you guys using?

All of you guys @ 140-150, you can all do 166+ very easly.

Just up the memory voltage to max.

Are you sure AMD? I've read that 512 (2 sticks 128) isn't as stable as just one stick of 128. Any truth to that?

Well upping the voltage isn't going to add in any instablilty unless you have really crappy case or it's very hot where you live.

Yes if you have 2 sticks of ram in your overall o/c will be smaller. With two sticks in I get only 176 cas2, with one I can get 180 cas2. But each one of them can do 180 cas2 by them selves.

So there isn't any real risk in running it @ 2.9v level. Mine do it all the time 24/7 and not a single issue.

Well, I just tried 8x155 and the mouse was lagging. All voltages were maxxed too. My case has very good air flow also. cpu temps are around 45c under a load. Although it is a mid tower:

Any other ideas? Keeping in mind that the Crucial I have is 2.5

i'm at 150x8 right now, i tried going to 155 but just got errors and i'm too lazy to go and mess around with all the settings to make it work right. btw, amd soldier, if i hit 166 or whatever, do i need to up the voltage for the cpu, even if i keep it at around 1200mhz?

should the "Auto Detect DIMM/PCI CLK" be Enabled or Disabled? or does it matter? I have mine Enabled.

look at my sig... max FSB i have hit is 180fsb.. not completely stable though.... the motherboard is defiantely not holding me back.

hmm, will setting the voltage all the way to the max for the ram kill the ram or anything? i just got another 256mb chip, should i change any settings or what?

It's lagging most likey because of your hdd. Which one do you have?

On one of my systems I have a IBM 60GXP hdd, it starts lagging @ 151+ fsb, which really blows! That is why I don't recommend this hdd.

No it won't kill it. Keep in mind that ddr ram modules use less voltage than sdr ram. Thus upping it by + .4 isn't going to hurt it any at all.

Yeah the 60GXP drives SUCK at high fsb speeds.

My IBM 75GXP and Maxtor 60DMP seem to careless what fsb speed I run on even @ 190. Maxtor has been good to me overall, I'd pick a Maxtor over a IBM drive.

so what is a good fsb speed to be running 2 60 gxp in raid 0. I don't want to risk losing data.

thanks for the info Soldier! I'll keep that in mind and try to find a way to "off" this hd on someone else.

i also have a IBM 60 GXP HDD and i get the laggy mouse/slow response sysmtoms after 179mhz FSB... i must have a good IBM... its still a great HDD.. i might want to try some different ones to try and catch up with SOLDIER

Well I'd say anything under 150 is safe for the most part.

You install Win98 first, than install another os after that.

I installed 98 then 2000, but the new OS just completely takes over.

You do have at least 2 partitions correct (1 for win98 and the other for win2k)?

Could be also that your boot log got messed up or something. But probably you missed a step or something.

if i install both OS's into separate partitions...say..C and D... will the computer use a "main" one to start up?

Well yeah you need to install the OS on different partitions, other wise it will override the last OS.

Once you start installing the 2nd OS like Win2k for ex. it will create a boot log file. You are than given a choice of which OS you wish to load.
