  • The Voodoo5 5500 AGP sports two 166MHz VSA-100 processors running in a modified version of "SLI." According to 3dfx, each VSA-100 takes different chunks of a frame and processes it in parallel with the other VSA-100. The chunks are then put together and displayed. Each of these two processors has their own 32MB of 166MHz SDRAM, giving the card a total of 64MB. Each VSA-100 is capable of processing two pixels per clock with one texture per pixel or one pixel per clock with two textures per pixel. This gives the Voodoo5 5500 AGP a theoretical 667Mpps (million pixels per second) fill-rate and a theoretical 667 Mtps (million texels per second) rate.

    The Voodoo5 5500 AGP (finally) supports 32-bit color, larger than 256 x 256 textures (up to 2048x2048), a 24-bit Z-buffer and multiple forms of texture compression along with T-buffer cinematic effects and the much-anticipated full scene anti-aliasing.
