  • GeForce2's fillrates peaks at 605 megatexels per second at low resolution before dropping sharply to less than 500 megatexels per second at high resolutions (figure 2). This progressive dropoff is understandable in the light of the more demanding framebuffer and Z-buffer bandwidth requirements at high resolutions. Radeon, clocked lower at 164 MHz, peaks at 526 megatexels per second (figure 2). Remarkably, fillrates are fairly constant across all resolutions with a peak value achieved at higher resolution. This is due to Z-buffer bandwidth conservation methods employed by ATI: Z-buffer compression and 'fast Z-buffer clear'.
