GeForce is the 23 million transistor, 0.22 micron graphics chip that NVIDIA proclaimed will change the world. Before probing deeper, some comments on the graphics board itself.
Creative Labs was first off the block in launching the 3D Blaster GeForce board in Singapore. This article is based on such a retail board (model number CT6940/1). It is decked with 32 megabytes of single data rate SDRAM. The on-board 5ns SDRAM, although capable of 200 MHz operation, is default clocked at 166 MHz.
This particular board was found to be stable with memory clocked at 183 MHz, but not at 200 MHz. What follows is a possible explanation.
