Other Specifics
Beyond the normal specifications, the KA266-R has a couple of interesting aspects. First, while the northbridge carries a snappy looking silver heat sink, the heat sink feels to be at about room temperature even when running repeated Quake III Arena timedemos. While AMD 760 north bridges are being loaded with active cooling and Intel has a newly designed towering heat sink on their i850 north bridge, all to combat heat, ALi's MAGiK 1 chipset appears to suffer no such difficulties.
Second, the Iwill board comes with well-labeled IDE cables. While this likely won't be important for expert users, novices and even those putting their second or third PC together will appreciate IDE cabling that is well labeled, making installation a breeze. It is a little thing but we like it.
