Believe it or not, not everybody has an AGP slot. Nowadays, value systems sell in the largest volume and tend to come with low-cost motherboards (usually i810 series chipset-based boards) that pack integrated video and no AGP slot. Unfortunately for value system owners, integrated video is known for being dog slow in 3D, and without an AGP slot, there have been no current generation high-performance video cards available for these systems...until now.

3dfx has announced and already shipped their Voodoo5 5500 PCI. Carrying two VSA-100 chips running at 166MHz each and 64MB of SDRAM also clocked at 166MHz, the Voodoo5 5500 is the fastest consumer PCI 3D accelerator available. We took a Voodoo5 5500 PCI and put it through a battery of video card tests in order to tell you just how fast this card is and whether or not it is worth buying.
