What happens when you ship a year late in a market with a six-month product cycle? You get something slow, expensive, and not at all compelling.

Try as we might, we just cannot get the Voodoo4 to play in a key we like.

The Voodoo4 4500 uses a single VSA-100 processor running at 166MHz. The VSA-100 can draw two pixels per clock with one texture per pixel, giving it a 333Mpixel fill rate and a 333Mtexel fill rate. It matches to 32MB of 166MHz SDR SDRAM via a 128-bit memory bus. This SDRAM backs up the VSA-100 with about 2.7GBps of memory bandwidth, which is fine for low-resolution 3D gaming but does not supply enough bandwidth for high-resolution 3D work. Having 32MB of SDRAM helps when running at high-resolutions in software with an overabundance of textures, but as you will see later on, the speed of the Voodoo4 4500 AGP keeps at resolutions where 32MB won't help you much over 16MB. The card has no TV-out or DVI-out.
